Worth the Trouble - Water Heater and Parts

My 50 gallon water heater is in the basement under my house. It can get pretty cold there in winter. Although this heater is only 2 years old. Recently decided to install a heater. After reading several reviews I decided on this blanket. I read two complaints about this product - poor instructions and unsuitable tape. I haven't experienced it either. There are two tape products they refer to. They are a roll of metal tape used to attach/glue parts together. The other tape is double-sided tape on the inside of the quilt next to the heater. First, DO NOT USE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE - THIS IS NOT NECESSARY! Simply wrap the blanket around the aquarium and secure with metal tie. See the label that comes with the duvet for instructions and tips. This project is not difficult. Wrap a blanket around your tank with METAL TAPE and cut off any panels or openings to gain access to your tank. It took me about an hour but I was in no rush. Since I have a "short" tank, I was able to do a double wrap. I'd like a thicker insulation, but that's the way it should be.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • I don't really like it, it's ok
