Use them to deploy a NAS on my home network - good drives!

I love these drives. I have two of these that I use to provide a mirrored NAS for my Raspberry Pi computers. As long as they function properly in this function. They provide home and log directories for my Raspberry Pi collection. The response is quick, the data transfer rate is acceptable. My only complaint is that they take a while to wake up when accessed, so not available for fsck and mount at boot, but that's more of an issue due to how I use disks. I set up mirroring because I was killing more than necessary external drives by using them in always-on configurations. I want to keep my data even if I lose one of the drives. The cases are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Of course, it's nice to have something other than black and silver in your computer nook. Things are pleasant when touched; they have a pleasant tactile presence. They are shiny but not slippery, so there is a risk of falling. If you're taking your drive with you, I recommend both a reasonably priced edge protection kit and a good case so you don't bump into the drive or scratch that beautiful case.

Pros
  • External hard drives
Cons
  • Available in black only
