it's like it can't see the new files

I bought a new one of these thinking my old one must be faulty as the auto backup didn't work. Writes that everything is saved, but it's not. It only lasts for a day like it doesn't see any new files. Looking at the WD website forums, this problem has existed with their products for years and they still haven't solved it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SmartWare as directed, but that doesn't fix the problem. This time I couldn't solve the problem at all and I have no way to ask for…

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Exchange availability

Arrived quickly and nicely packaged. It didn't format at first on my new Windows 10 computer. I did some research and found out what settings are needed. After that it turned out to work fine. The only reason it only got 3 stars was because it is a plug and play device. It should contain instructions for this important or necessary installation issue. Note. I bought 2 external storage devices of this type (one was even the same brand and an older model). Nobody had this requirement before using

One of the top 5 best computer purchases I've ever made.

I at least remember when 20MB drives cost five times as much (well, I remember the days before 20MB PC drives!) Now we have access on a 2 *million* megabyte ride for (gasp) *less than $100*. If you need convincing of the value of something like this, you're (no offense) *Psycho*. But seriously: Western Digital is arguably the world's leading manufacturer of floppy disk drives. Their drives are incredibly reliable; I've had two of their large drives for over 5 years without a single problem. The

True WD Blue Best in Data Storage

Kinda thought it was metal but it isn't. It's a glossy blue plastic plate, the other 3/4 are black plastic. DOES NOT NEED power supply. It's 2TB and it's USB 3.0. It runs very fast, doesn't heat up, doesn't vibrate off the table or anything like that. There are 4 small rubber feet on the bottom. This is a great drive that can only be used for backing up or storing some movies that you can take to visit friends. I even ran Linux on it and it was almost like an extra PC, because if Windows…

Perfect little USB 3.0 portable external drive 2TB

Perfect little USB 3.0 portable external drive 2TB. Great value and performance in a very small package. I use it as a temporary storage when I travel. In the evenings, I use the motel's "office" computers to quickly transfer 4K videos captured during the day with a DJI Phantom 3 Pro drone to multiple 64GB micro SD cards onto a 2TB My- Passport drive upload until I get home and won't transfer the video. for permanent storage. Then I erase the 64GB micro SD cards and am good to go the next…

Western Digital is everything I buy

I like it a lot, this isn't my first purchase from Western Digital. I always buy Western Digital and this time was no different. This is my third portable drive. I bought my first WD drive years ago and it still works. I trust Western Digital. In addition to 3 portable devices, I have 3 external drives and the network is all Western Digital. I belong to an organization for which I need to protect the documentation I have created, my family tree with many years of documentation, and my hobby is…

Only worked for three days!

Just purchased this product and received it on July 27th. It is now August 27th and it no longer works. I downloaded the data on August 20th to take out of town. I connected it to my computer on August 23rd, the data appeared for 10 minutes and then disappeared and I heard a ticking noise. I couldn't retrieve my data and am planning to return this piece of junk to Revain. I purchased the Rescue plan, a two-year external drive data recovery plan, but I do not need the plan for this product. What

Use them to deploy a NAS on my home network - good drives!

I love these drives. I have two of these that I use to provide a mirrored NAS for my Raspberry Pi computers. As long as they function properly in this function. They provide home and log directories for my Raspberry Pi collection. The response is quick, the data transfer rate is acceptable. My only complaint is that they take a while to wake up when accessed, so not available for fsck and mount at boot, but that's more of an issue due to how I use disks. I set up mirroring because I was killing
