Worked on my 2016 Ford Fusion with 2.0 Ecoboost. They only use 2 pieces of orange. One snaps onto the end of the cable and the other is a cap that is put on after installation. I did not remove the air filter and cable retaining bracket. I removed the engine cover (pull the sides and it pops out). I also put the car in Drive because it pulled the cable/transmission lever back where I could see it. Just squeezing the orange fork wasn't enough. Even with lubrication, the connector just breaks instead of snapping into a hole on the cable. I used a tiny screwdriver to push it down from the sides while applying pressure from the top with my fingers. Then snap onto the shifter and put on the cap. It fits well and appears to be made out of better quality plastic than what Ford put in.
