I have a yellow lab, she is smart and well behaved. until she sees a rabbit or other small animal to hunt! We've found that simply putting these collars on completely changes her attitude - she's better off just putting the collar on, although we sometimes give her a beep to remind her to do so. The vibration option scared her enough that we never used the shock option. Fast forward less than 6 months, sitting in our living room, our dog Bailey is jumping up, starting to walk in circles and crying, she is 9 years old so let's try to pinpoint what could be going on, she looks like this like she's trying bite her ears off! It didn't take long for her to realize the collar was bothering her, but it was a real struggle to calm her down enough to take it off. It shook me too, so badly that I woke up. After removing the collar, we checked the position of the remote control. We keep it on a shelf by the back door, it was still there, nothing was leaning against it and no one was around. The shock level was set to the lowest level, like I said we never used it. For these reasons I am certain that the defect was the collar itself. Now my poor dog will flinch and hide under the coffee table whenever we try to put a collar or leash on him.
