Bought as an experiment to see if it only fits on the keyboard and mouse platform to temporarily allow sit/stand adjustment on a regular desk. I also have an ergonomic mount that can hold a monitor or two. I am considering ordering a second device for my laptop. Sure, the fans are a bit over the top, but I'm happy to report that the system is solid and nearly perfect for this type of use. A small issue is that the keyboard is too light for the device to slide around on the table. A simple solution is to attach four small felt (or rubber) pads to the lower support legs to keep them in place. Here is an ergonomic stand that you can combine with this stand: http://www.amazon.com/Spacedec-SD-DP-750-Display-Quick-Medium/dp/B002RL8J44/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid= 1426195060&sr=8-1-fkmr2&keywords=ergo+monitor+pole
