Review on Toshiba SD-V593 Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Combo with HDMI: The Ultimate Entertainment Solution by Jose Schweigert

Short happy life

Well, it didn't take me long to read the first customer review to realize that my problem wasn't unique. Problem? The DVD player, after working normally, just stopped reading discs. Boom, just like that, it's over, and that's all she wrote! It worked perfectly one night, the next night the message "NO DISK". Of course I've tried a few discs, even an optical lens cleaner, but it doesn't work, I'm dead. The player was bought at the end of August 2005. I'm the only user and I'm a neat Type A guy so I didn't do anything that killed him. High marks for picture and sound while it worked. For longevity minus ratings; why should he only work for 13 months? I have another DVD player, Toshiba or needless to say, that has been working great for over 6 years. Why is this glaring discrepancy in products sold under the same name? If you're willing to shell out a reasonable amount of money for short-term use, it will deliver high-quality picture and sound for as long as it's alive. Otherwise, look at DVD players and buy something reliable, which unfortunately isn't the case.
