Each string of lights takes 3 AA batteries and the first time I use them I put new batteries in and set the timer 6 hours at night. (He turns off the light himself) and the battery lasted 17 days. I then bought AA rechargeable batteries and didn't know it but I ended up with 2 bad batteries in an 8 pack which is annoying considering how expensive Energizer rechargeable batteries are. I don't know yet how many days I can live with three fully functional batteries. I use both of my strings in flower watering cans, they are beautiful and get lots of compliments.
