They are leaking. Airtight = waterproof. We like to collect dirt from every state in the US (yes, we're weird), as well as water from every ocean, major lake, etc. These all take up a lot of space, so we bought them just to save money. small samples of each. I guess dirt doesn't need to be in airtight containers, but water doesn't evaporate over time. So when they arrived firstly the package wasn't sent in a secure box so 2 cans were broken. So I had to automatically send them back. But I wanted to make sure they were sealed so I could easily resend them. So I took the one that wasn't broken and poured tap water into it. Yes, when it's "sealed" it still leaks water everywhere. Maybe we just got a random batch?
