Bought this at the same time as another nutmeg grinder to see which is better. As it turns out, both have their advantages. This grinder requires some downward pressure as it rotates to bring the nutmeg into the grinding plane, but the grind is consistent and the finest grind we've found. If you're looking for the ultimate nutmeg flavor without excess texture, use this grinder.
