Review on πŸš— Garmin 010-R1280-00 Portable Friction Dashboard Mount - Like-New Repackaged Item for Sale by Mark Jefferson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It stays on the dash and requires very little attention.

This mount stays in place for everyday driving and I love it. I also like that no fasteners messing up the dash are required. This is the second time I have bought this mount model. I haven't found anything better. Some dashboards are tilted backwards, allowing items placed on the dashboard to stay in place. The dashboard of my car (Porsche Boxster) slopes down and nothing you put on it stays there even when the car is stationary. This mount stays in place! It stays in place even under full acceleration. The original, which lasted several years, cracked the hinge so I had to support the camera. The sticky base still remained on the dashboard. Be aware that when using a sports car during fast cornering, the bracket may detach and fall off the dashboard. When you are on a track it would be wise to just put the GPS away until you have finished your track session. In the short time I've had this new mount, the ball that snaps into the back of the GPS seems to have loosened up a bit, allowing the GPS to change angle in just a few miles. The base clip on the GPS may be worn out. This or maybe the ball is slightly smaller than my original mount. Let's see how this develops over time.

Pros
  • New design lighter, more flexible and compact
Cons
