🚗 Garmin 010-R1280-00 Portable Friction Dashboard Mount - Like-New Repackaged Item for Sale Review

dash mount was like new. It holds my vinyl record well without slipping while driving. However, it's easy to pick up and remove from the dashboard to enlarge it for data entry. I like it better than the disc mount.

I use it in a pickup truck and average Tennessee roads are rough. I had to make a wooden platform, screw the platform mount to it and attach the tree to the dash with velcro. The GPS fits snugly into the mount allowing it to stay in one place.

My suction cup mount has fallen off every week. My GPS navigation system crashed with it. The GPS device supports this absolutely correctly. No more falls. One star deducted because the dashboard was not level. Could be a little stickier. But the main goal was achieved.

I don't get too attached to self-adhesive tape in a hot car over time. I needed an inexpensive, easily disassembled, vertical GPS so I could rarely look at it while in use. I don't drive by looking at the sat nav. GARMIN speaks beautifully. Price-performance ratio. It folds up nicely in my roomy glove box. The base is bigger than I thought. Small glove box with device and Garmin, may not have enough space for items.

Only 4 stars as this replaces the exact same product which has failed after 3 years of use. The front rivets are torn out - a design flaw. The bottom (silicone?) is inherently sticky, so protect it from lint and dust when not in use. Wipe the IP before use. It is recommended that the device be stored with the base facing the Garmin display and both surfaces protected during storage. The suction cups are unreliable and can damage the solar film on the windshield.

I used a traditional suction cup on the dashboard beanbag mount. They held up pretty well. The breaking point was always the part of the hinge that tightened the suction cup. Sometimes it was worn out. It has sometimes cracked because it fell off the dashboard or was mishandled. This design doesn't have that so I hope it lasts. I bought four of these mounts last year for different cars and they all work great. Garmin Friction Mount is made of non-slip rubber and conforms to the contours of your dashboard. It really stays in place and keeps your GPS in your chosen position. I've been through many dashboard mounts that don't work. I don't want a windshield mount for various reasons. I had one of those big bean bag-like bindings that have to stay in place thanks to a combination of weight and slip resistance. It was a joke, I even tried not to put anti-slip pads on the dashboard. This mount stays in place for everyday driving and I love it. I also like that no fasteners messing up the dash are required. This is the second time I have bought this mount model.
