Just to be sure, I ran various formatting and drive verification tests to test the drive until I had 100 hours on it to wipe out any early problems (child mortality is what they call it in the reliability industry). I like the three-year warranty, but didn't want to give up my data until I felt safe with the drive. I'm on a long trip and I carry this drive with me as a backup and also to store my music and photo libraries that are too big for my laptop. This is my second My Passport from WD. It appears to be identical to the previous WD 2TB drive except for the case style. I don't like the sharp corners on this drive; The earlier version had more rounded corners. Small point, but I'll be packing and unpacking this drive (and the earlier one, since I carry both) quite often, and the rounded corners are easier to manage. I received a Revain Basics hard case as compensation. Provides some protection and prevents objects from getting caught around corners.
