Update 10/12/2020: Just an update, still works. The only problem I've had since I've had it is that the longer the mic is off and charging, it turns on forever, almost like it's dead, but constantly pressing the button turns it on eventually. IMPORTANT UPDATE 28.3.2019! The useless idiots at Microsoft who didn't come out of the box released a buggy update sometime after I posted this review. The sound quality is reduced to that of an old phone, which sounds really awful. Simply using the normal method of changing the quality with the icon in the bottom right corner and going to the properties to change it just doesn't work. He keeps coming back to the phone. You have to change the quality settings via the Route Control Panel. I've had a ModMic since 2016 and have never had a problem, but I've always hated the cable. It was long and stiff, so it never leaked easily, but it was a small price to pay for a better headset setup. I was pleased to see that it's now available wirelessly and I received it for Christmas. Pros: - WIRELESS! without this cable. It's like running without underwear. It is great. These new magnets are the same size, but damn they suck on this mic. I really like her. Very simple and intuitive controls. Everything on one button. Touch it to turn off the sound, hold it for a few seconds to turn it on/off, it's easy, no extra steps needed. The sound quality is what you would expect from a ModMic charger when not in use, but I let it run for 5 hours so it wasn't a big deal. Thanks to the position of the charger, you can easily connect the USB cable to the microphone and continue working, especially if your keyboard has a hub. However, the disadvantage is given in the cons. Cons: - The idea that you can charge the mic while you play is great, but they give you a bulky hard USB cable for that. There are many soft braided cables, that make it easy to charge while playing, especially for the $120 price point. The price of $120 isn't much. I got it for Christmas so I didn't have to worry. I don't think it's worth 120 at all considering that: - The quality of the stuff is not what I expect from a 120 device. The plastic used is cheap and the wireless hub is huge. If you plug it into a hub on the keyboard, the other port is almost impossible to use. Sometimes REAKS burned materials. They state that it's "normal in the manufacturing process," which is just an excuse for "it's made in a Chinese factory with horrible working conditions because we wanted to make sure we were out of the 120, we charge can make the most profit.โ Nothing I've ever bought anything that smelled like it was coming from a building on fire. That's a terrible excuse and you should be ashamed to defend it. The hub will only shut down with the computer unless you disconnect it from the network. Otherwise, if you turn the mic off as expected, you'll get that annoying flashing blue light until you turn the mic back on. - QC is obviously not there yet as the first one I received was defective. The switch to go into unidirectional mode was broken and wouldn't let any sound through, so it was basically just a mute switch. Pretty pathetic if you ask me for $120. Other Thoughts: - Although I think it had more cons than pros, I'd say the ModMic was pretty good, especially given the price you would expect from a top-of-the-line device. quick to respond to an email I sent about this after Christmas. They gave me a list of instructions to test, but I thought it was pointless. The mic just didn't work when switched, no amount of testing will prove this wrong. They offered a free replacement on their website but as time was limited Revain provided me with a one night replacement which was the best way. Having a wireless mic is pretty cool, especially when you can get a working one (which I did on my second one), but the quality of it, the dead mic on my first order, isn't $120 here. At the moment, wireless technology is outdated. Antlion has a very strong following, there's no excuse for a 'niche' product to charge so much to make up for low sales. Low sales are due to it being so expensive just because it's a wireless modem. Nothing they did was different from what was done in the professional audio industry. There are many wireless devices with APTX drivers that don't even cost that much. I've attached pictures of him to my Audioquest Nighthawks and Focal Elear.
