When I tried this on my daughter her first reaction was to rub her hand on the front and exclaim "Oooh! It's so soft!" I thought it was too cute for a little 3 year old, but I actually thought the same thing! I bought two of these swimsuits in two different sizes; one was for my almost 5 year old and the other was for my 3 year old .I dressed them up as black cats for Halloween and the price, fit and comfort was perfect for our needs.However, the material used in these leotards is VERY thin.My girls do gymnastics and their leotards have a much thicker material that is tighter fitted to the body.These swimsuits are not completely free but almost do not fit the body.The material is similar to the material of a very old loved worn t-shirt.As I only needed them for a suit I find the price and quality great for that.On the other hand it would be terrible for gymnastics and I have no idea about dancing but if a soft, very comfortable but not very supportive fit is acceptable then you might don't go wrong with it!
