They do what they say and if you do what the manufacturer suggests you have no problem. However, I destroyed the SodaStream machine with an expired bottle. I used it intensively - every day I stirred the water. Once it just exploded like a bomb while charging. Actually more like a shot. My ears were ringing for about an hour and my arm got hurt from flying plastic splinters (not bad) and hurt me for a hell of a day. The car was completely destroyed. Shards flew everywhere. I don't blame the bottle. I blame the guy who used it a full year past its expiry date and made it very hard. So be careful. I have another SodaStream machine in another house and plan to use it. The old bottles I still have are marked with a Sharpie marker so I don't accidentally use them. Now they are retired and don't have to deal with carbon dioxide. I'm deducting a star from my rating not because of the above but because I just find them overpriced.
