Bought to correct laminate fins that had come loose (somewhat mysteriously after it had been fine for more than four years). My floor doesn't have a perfectly flat surface (small but noticeable "ripples" in the texture of the floor to make it look more natural), but the suction cups grab and hold. Easy to use - still holds on even when the suction cups get a little dirty from the floor. I didn't need a rubber mallet, but other suction cups were about the same price and had lower reviews, so. what the hell. a spare rubber mallet never hurts.
