Economical solution

I had an old version of this product that worked well for a 2000 Toyota SUV for many years. The older version has both white wires dangling, but since it worked I never asked why. I have since purchased a newer Lexus SUV model and the older version no longer works (none of the trailer lights work). At first I thought it was an SUV issue as the old version of the adapter has served me well for years, but the dealer assures me that the SUV's 4-pin socket is fine (tested with light tester). The dealer told me that the white wire that goes into the 4-pin adapter needs to be grounded for the Lexus, but there is no easy way to ground the wire. I bought a new adapter and noticed that both white wires are shorted. I connected it to my Lexus SUV and it works great. I would save a lot of time if I bought it up front instead of taking the SUV to the dealer for a diagnostic test. Note that I also bought (and subsequently returned) another 4-pin adapter from U-Haul and it didn't work either.

Pros
  • Fits most trailers, semi-trailers, RVs and RVs. Typically used with T-connectors or taillight converters with 4-way flat ends on the vehicle.
Cons
