Installed defective part does not work. Bad connector crimp detected

This part didn't work. I installed it and the fan started running at high speed, plugged in the old one and the fan stopped. I found that one of the two wires was not crimped into the connector. I needed a part so I tried to fix the connector but ended up breaking the plastic on the connector when I tried to pull the pin/socket out.
