As a new radio amateur, I just wanted to get on the air as quickly as possible. I had a detailed list of all the repeaters and simplex frequencies I wanted to put in my TM-V71 radio. When the software arrived, I loaded it into my computer, put all the frequencies I wanted into my radio, and then loaded them into the radio. The whole process took about 20 minutes, listening to local repeaters and connecting with members of the amateur radio club I belong to. The software is easy to download, transfer to your radio and simplifies the management of your radio's memory. The radio interface cable is pure quality. I love the fact that I can see my entire memory configuration in spreadsheet format and even add notes. I have a few different files that I can upload to my radio including a local repeater file and a few travel files when we take our caravan on holiday. You can even update the software directly from your laptop as updates become available. Expensive yes, but worth every penny!
