My fault. I should have paid attention to the 0-500psi range. The gauge, of course, has a range of 0 to 500 psi. If, like most instruments, it has a +- error (and I couldn't find it in the item description) I would guess it's probably an error of around 3-5% of full scale. So if you read 100 psi it really is 100 psi +- 25 psi. (5% of 500psi is 25psi). A really high quality sensor can have an error of 2% of the reading. In this case, the reading of 100 psi is in the range of 98-102 psi. I'm sure this sensor has a bug in the previous setting. The kit includes a list of typical engine oil pressures for various makes of car and truck. The HIGHEST pressure I found was about 80psi. Most readings were in the 30-50 psi range. So a much better gauge would be a 0 to 100 psi gauge. Luckily I have a gauge just like that and I will change it without trying it on my Volkswagen (25-40psi). With this 0 to 500 scale, you would have a hard time even READING 30psi! And if it does, the error could be 30psi +/- 25psi. Not very helpful. Now if you just want to see the presence of EVERY print, this sensor will work just fine. I love the body and all the fittings/adapters so I bought this particular kit. Just be careful when trying to get accurate pressure readings. This thermometer does not offer this.
