Worth a second chance
I've had mixed experiences with Hella lamps. I recently replaced a couple of light bulbs in my girlfriend's car after one of the first pair of bulbs (another common high wattage brand) died after 15,000 miles/1 year. I did one side, she did the other, and I told her about it. Less than a month later, one of the bulbs exploded, leaving dark spots on the bulb. This is a classic breakdown associated with touching the glass. However, we were very careful not to touch the glass. So either the bulb got some oil or grease from the car when it was installed, or the bulb is dirty.
