My mini Aussie barks like a champ. Our trainer recommended this to us as an effective training method (along with other reinforcers) to reduce his barking. It would be great if the wires actually touched his neck. We tried short ones, long ones, and we tightened the collar so tight I was afraid we were cutting off his blood supply. We called customer service and while they were extremely accommodating and patient, they were unable to get this thing to work for our dog. We're out the window to come back, so now we're stuck with a $100 dog collar that looks good in the box. Don't make the same mistake we did: if your dog has a longer coat, you may have better luck using another method. We didn't shave our dog's neck because it's too much.
