Broke on second road bike ride with iPhone

I used this mount on two road bike rides and on my second ride it broke on the plastic bracket. I hit a bump and heard a crack, and three minutes later my phone fell off its cradle. The "hoof" part that attaches to your phone attaches to a round lip that screws into the carbon fiber base. The whole round lip came off as seen in my photo. If you're driving on pristine roads I doubt this will be a problem, but if there are any bumps or potholes, good luck. Make sure you have a phone case with you in case it breaks and falls on the sidewalk. Before this event, I thought everything was fine with the mount. There the carbon part is solid and mounts well and I would consider permanently attaching a cheap iPhone case to the carbon pull tab. The plastic parts don't have a very strong grip feel and the alignment pins that hold it straight aren't pronounced enough to prevent the phone from rotating and likely detaching unintentionally. Try it, it also broke in the same place the first time you drove it. Terrible hard plastic.

Pros
  • Bike GPS Navigators
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
