Due to conflicting reviews I have ordered 3 different sizes. I am here to let you know that my daughter (a regular 8 year old daughter) needed a shoe that is half a size larger than her normal street shoe size. So a size 4.5 fits her normal height of 4 feet. I did NOT use the measurements in the size chart. I would also like to say that because it's half the size, we also have some room to grow. Wanted to add: I also compared a size 4 to a size 4.5 and the difference in length was slight, maybe just 1/4 inch - I didn't compare the width. But after many repeated adjustments, we settled on 4.5. Good luck - I know it's a frustrating size, but I hope I've been able to help.
