I cut a large tarp in half and made a hem to reinforce the grommet points along the cut side. These Coghlan bushings couldn't take more than one layer of my 10 mil. Plans. The Coghlan grommets were also very difficult to install and certainly wouldn't make their own hole in the tarp like the packaging says. Cutting a cross on the tarp for an eyelet is easy, but eyelets that don't hold together are a problem. I also purchased some CargoLoc grommets for this project and these grommets can work with 3 layers of tarp to create the perfect edge and add strength to the grommet points. Buy CargoLoc sockets instead.
