I recently bought a BMW f650gs motorcycle. I plan to do all my maintenance to make sure the job is done accurately (dealers sometimes hire bad mechanics). I use a Wiha hand dynamometer 2 - 8 Newton meters for small screws. But for most BMW work, you'll need this tool along with the right Torx screwdriver to ensure it's still under warranty. For larger jobs I have an even larger torque wrench with Nm settings. This product is very well made and comes with a factory test sheet. The ratchet can also be switched, but the torque can only be read clockwise.
