I seem to have misunderstood what it is. They only light up or flash when skating. The light isn't on. Which, when you think about it, makes sense because there aren't any on/off switches. Even if I was a bit disappointed, it was still fun. While you need a dark environment to get the best out of them, they aren't that bright. They were very easy to replace with my old wheels. They are not super sticky and not super slick so perfect for roller derby or similar. I'm not sure about gravel and asphalt.
