I bought this cable to use my Samsung monitor as the main screen for my MacBook Pro and it works fine. If your laptop doesn't have an HDMI output, you'll need an adapter, which for me was the ThunderBolt to HDMI adapter. I've been using it for over 4 months now and haven't had any problems. I'm pretty sure this will work fine on a PC or Chromebook with an HDMI port. 6 feet long should be more than enough for most settings. I actually needed a cable that was about 1ft long since my monitor is next to my laptop (as you can see in the picture) so I just wrapped the cables with velcro but the 6ft length might turn out to be prove useful if I decide to set up my laptop and monitor differently in the future. It is better to have a long length than a short one. CONCLUSION: I highly recommend this cable to connect your laptop to a DVI monitor via an HDMI output. You can also do this with a MacBook, like I did, but make sure you have an HDMI output, or you'll have to buy an HDMI adapter. 5 out of 5 stars!
