Will overheat your water.
Worked to keep my 150 gallon pond from freezing in inclement weather. Then it wouldn't turn off and almost cooked my koi - luckily the family were home and unplugged as the water temp was over 20 degrees warmer than ambient at a low 90F. Good for emergencies but doesn't shut off it should.
