Review on 🌡️ Klein Tools 69140 K-Type Thermometer: Accurate HVAC Pipe Temperature Clamp, Measures -4 to +212°F by Chris Hamim

Reading at 20 degrees Fahrenheit is too high, false reading

I bought these because my previous thermocouple clamp started giving falsely high readings but worked fine for several years. This clamp from Klein Tools seemed like good value for the money and I respected the brand name of their power hand tools. However, this Klein Tools clamp gave readings that were essentially as bad as the old worn out clamp I just replaced - about 20F higher (or worse), while one would hope for less than 5F as the reading would otherwise is irrelevant for the operator when troubleshooting. Due to the seemingly unbelievable bad luck that the new clamp worked just as badly as the one that had failed (how difficult is it to design this simple thing for a major manufacturer?), I spent months without a working thermocouple and tried to replace every associated one replace component one by one - assuming that a new clip can't be the culprit. I even bought a new electric meter (which I didn't need, not the culprit I found). I bought a new meter and two new adapters. I finally proved it was a new clamp by swapping out parts on my buddy's thermocouple. I recently bought a K-type fieldpiece thermocouple clamp, which wasn't very cheap, but you can't ask that much to begin with being really useful. But to be honest almost all clamps I've ever bought (ie many) have worked, and from many different manufacturers. It might have been an accident (pun intended?) but I see many other reviews making similar claims so this might not be the case.
