Review on πŸ”§ PlasticWeld Plastic Repair Epoxy Putty by J-B Weld - 2 oz. by Chris Long

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sticks well, stays a little flexible

It's not as hard as SteelStik (dark gray putty from JB Weld) but very very sticky. I needed to fix the steam mop handle and when I took it apart I saw it was ABS (thanks to the >ABS< symbol on it - Sherlock Holmes, I'm not Sherlock Holmes) so I glued the edges black for which I Glue had ABS pipes. It was probably almost as strong as before, but not very strong, so I took some putty and attached the inside of the handle around the break. I've also experimented by applying bits of putty to the (smooth) inside of a piece of ABS pipe I had in the garage (which I wiped with my finger) and the stuff really sticks. I later managed to remove it, but only because the putty didn't fully harden and cracked, leaving some of the putty in the pipe. Because I cleaned the inside of the handle much better and applied the putty more carefully, next time it will break somewhere else. still reasonably flexible for at least two days - it didn't break until it doubled, and even then a lot of effort was needed; almost as much as the equivalent Steel Stick putty pen, which was like a rock at the time. I suspect this is a feature and not a bug; Having some deformation in the handle probably helps prevent it from breaking where the component ends.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Security
