We bought a wrought iron outdoor watch at a Walmart sale last year and put it away for the winter. If installed this spring, it will keep time during the day and then suddenly turn off the next day. Changed the batteries, made sure the vines weren't in the way, and replaced the alkaline batteries with regular ones (yes, that can be important). Finally ordered this high torque gearbox from Revain. Easy to replace but scissors had to be used to trim the arrows that were slightly (1/4 inch) too long. Put in a new battery and it will be accurate every day. It was great that the hands were white, making it easier to read against the black iron background. Given the watch's selling price and cheap shipping costs, it now costs about the same as a new watch. Thankfully, I'm retired, so tinkering with this problem wasn't too difficult.
