The paper in these high quality sketchpads has enough teeth to work well with pencils and various ink drawing tools such as pens, markers and fountain pens. You can add a small amount of watercolor or an opaque pigment such as acrylic, gouache, or poster paint, but the paper tends to warp if too much water is used. Paper worked great for drawing with F (#2.5) and HB (#2) graphite pencils, and colored pencils were used for black and white drawings. I like spiral sketchbooks because the sheets lay flat and are easy to remove. I think their prices are fair given the quality of the paper, although not the cheapest.
