Review on Black Finish Yamaha NS-6490 Pair of 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers by Seunghyun Nahm ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best offers, glad I bought it.

- It is STRONGLY not recommended to take these speakers without a subwoofer (they are not able to produce a dense and surround sound). Initially I bought them with a Pioneer VSX-423 receiver and was EXTREMELY disappointed (music lovers and geeks will understand) . Although the sound was detailed (top and middle), it sounded "clamped", there was no volume and bass at all (can be compared with mono radio tuner reception against stereo). After I decided to buy a Yamaha YST-SW216 sub. After moving the sub around the room (essentially a square room is the worst option for audio), I finally found a good place =) And then the system STARTED. Subjectively, this assembly loses Westone UMX3 RC + fiio E7 (as an external DAC), but it is quite suitable for listening to music and movies at home. PS. I read that in the receiver you can still delve into the settings (frequent cut, volume levels, etc. through the on-screen menu for which you need a separate cable .), perhaps after such tuning the assembly will even be more interesting =)

Pros
  • -Mid and highs sound great - Solid appearance - Relatively light for its size - Lack of a phase inverter (can be placed close to the wall) -Excellent result for your money (yamaha keeps the price tag for now)
Cons
  • - Lack of "legs" - Lightweight design (I was expecting big and heavy speakers . turned out to be only large)
