These big things are comfortable to hold. And they magically reduce vibrations significantly for my somewhat flimsy 3-piece camera tripod leg + gear head + C6 mount. At 300x magnification, prior to installing these pads, my building appears to be vibrating and the image is vibrating at high frequency very frequently. After adding these pads, the vibrations caused by the floor will be greatly reduced! And the vibration settling time from touching the tripod/focuser seems to decay twice as fast. I know it's quite expensive and these replicas are 50% cheaper but I have to trust Celestron because they claim (according to their website) that they are made from Sorbotan while the other replica never claimed that they are the same material used.
