These are light to medium duty hangers and should be used as such. I use two in tandem to hang a 1-1/4" curtain rod, just in case. They are made from 18-20 gauge stamped stock and have #6 x 1/2" guide screws, which means that maximum thread in the base material is about 7/16". It is recommended to use longer screws, but remember that they are lighter than medium duty hangers. I wouldn't hang anything heavy on these brackets, but they will do depending on Design for most light and some medium applications.
