I started with the 10" version but decided it was too big for my needs. I figured there would be no difference in size for less than $2. I was wrong. The 10" vise was 4 pounds heavier and required more mounting space. Interestingly, the depth of the mounts was the same, about 4 inches, but the width was greater on the 10-inch vise. fits, but I'm very happy with how smoothly it runs. I used a 7/8" birch pin for the grip and a pair of 7/8" rubber plugs for the grip ends. Used a 6/4 inch cherry for the jaws. Note that there is no drilling template, but the vise has been dismantled and the mounting flange is used for positioning. I used large holes about 1/4" all around to ensure no rubbing. As other buyers have noted, it would be nice if Yost included a sample.
