I bought this cable (Cat 7 Ethernet cable, 50ft LAN cable) to upgrade existing Cat5e cables to Cat7 to support 10 - Support GB networks. Although "Cat7" is printed on the side of the cable, I don't think these cables will meet Cat7 or even Cat6a standards for 10Gb/s networks. Here is the setup: Switch: Mikrotik CRS309-1G-8S+IN (SFP+ port 8), RouterOS v6.46.3 Module/Interfaces: Mikrotik S+RJ10, V2.16 Client interfaces: ASUS XG-C100C brand) The modules have a supported cable length of 30 m (100 ft) for 10GBASE-T network speed to pair "S+RJ10 with other brandsโ. They also have a supported cable length of 100 m (330 ft) for 5GBASE-T network speeds, again for "other brand" pairing. I can achieve 5GBASE-T. This was auto-negotiated, and I tried connecting manually to 10GB, which didn't connect at all. I have no reason to believe the modules or client interfaces are faulty, so I focused on troubleshooting the cable. I ended up trying a different cable. I did a little research and settled on a 50ft Monoprice Cat7 cable. It looks like they are a supplier who actually tested their cables to make sure they meet the advertised specs and they post the spec on their website and offer a guarantee that the cable you receive will meets or exceeds these specifications. Using a new cable, the same length, and the same specified wattage as in this test, the 10GB connection was auto-negotiated with no issues. So I believe this cable is absolutely not Cat7 compliant and probably not Cat6a compliant. It's probably in the range of bad Cat6 cables at best. Let's be honest - this cable works 100% problem-free with the standard 1 Gigabit connection that you have on your standard PC or gaming console. You can improve Internet speed tests if you have an updated connection with your ISP and old network devices/cables. But. It seems that this product skews its rating when it doesn't do half of what it should do on a good day. Here I do not agree with this product. If you need a REAL Cat7 cable to achieve 10Gbps, look elsewhere.
