There was a question of expanding the RAM on a not the newest Asus U30SD laptop with an Intel® Core™ i3 2310M processor and an Intel® HM65 Express chipset. I had two 2 GB sticks installed, that is, it was necessary to expand the RAM by replacing one or both sticks with larger ones. On the official Asus website about the RAM of this laptop, the ambiguous phrase "DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion up to 8 G SDRAM" is indicated. And if the question about the frequency disappeared, then the question about the volume arose - it means that the maximum total volume should not exceed 8 GB, or can you use 8 GB strips in each slot? What is the maximum amount of memory in my laptop? The search for information on this issue did not give me a clear answer, because. someone wrote that they inserted 8 GB into one slot and nothing worked, and someone that everything was OK, but a friend drew my attention to the fact that according to information from the Intel website, this processor supports up to 16 GB of RAM, and the chipset also seems to have no restrictions up to 8 GB. Therefore, it was decided to test it empirically by ordering in a store with the ability to check the purchase on the spot, and if anything, immediately return it back to the store. Before buying, I took the laptop with me, and having paid for the goods, installed it in the laptop directly in the store, instead of one of the modules and tried to turn it on. The laptop turned on as usual, without any incidents. The system showed 10 GB of RAM (2 GB old bar 8 GB new), AIDA also showed all the data on the new bar without any problems. Thus, now I am a happy owner of a laptop with 10 GB of RAM, which is now more than enough for me for everyday tasks performed on a laptop. I would be glad if my review helps people who are faced with the same problem of determining the maximum supported amount of memory on their laptop :)
