Review on πŸ“ Enhancing Accuracy on the Go: Introducing Protmex Portable Measurement Accuracy Selection by Michael Moonin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good performance for the price, with a few issues.

Update 28/06/21: Still sturdy even after my daughter dressed it up as a Minion from Despicable Me Fantastic value for money! Update: After 10 months my rating has increased to 5 stars. Strong, solid performer. While the concerns below remain valid, this gauge offers excellent value for money. Good performance for the price, with a few issues. Pros: Sturdy build, good weight, unlike some others Weighs both A and C Auto-ranging Backlit display Uses AAA batteries instead of expensive 9 volt Yellow easy to find in low light (on stage or FOH) Not great: Backlight button is not persistent (sometimes it turns on the light, sometimes it takes a nudge or two) Different shades of yellow on the front and back of the die-cast case. Unknown accuracy (all cheap non-certified flowmeters have this problem. Certified calibrated flowmeters are too expensive for an amateur like me ;) No external calibration port. Can only be used to check relative levels. This meter may be off 3dB or 4dB, who knows? A 3 dB difference halves the allowable exposure time: 85 dBA + 8 hours 88 dBA = 4 hours according to NIOSH guidelines/OSHA regulations (any uncertified meter may have this problem). Good price. performs at three times the price compared to other non-certified gauges. Long-term use can be hampered by the lack of a calibration port, as accuracy can change over time. Pros and cons, if any.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Thin
