This is said to be gentler than alternative cleaning agents such as hydrogen peroxide or mouthwash, and it still is. No chemical smell - more like mint, and it keeps my flexible mouthpiece clean, if slightly bluish. My dentist recommended this to me. Cons: There are two small instruction cards - read carefully! First, the two-part cleaner has cumbersome mixing instructions (done weekly) and it seems to pool at the bottom of my container when it's a few days old. Second, they recommend soaking the product for no more than 15 minutes, then brushing (without using abrasives) and storing the product in a dry place.
