Review on ๐Ÿ–ค BDF BLKT Window Film Blackout Privacy (36" x 6Ft) - Ultimate Darkness and Privacy Solution for Windows by Kyle Sutter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Forget those damn expensive blackout curtains, these are things for people on the night shift!

This is AMAZING. As a night shift, I figured we'd always have a bedroom with two sets of blackout curtains and a blanket pinned to the wall above the window to block the light. This material actually makes the room solid and dark at night. You may have to use tape around the edges if you don't cut it *for no reason*, but it works great. I have included some additional information below. Buy more than you need! If you get the bare minimum, problems can arise, especially when trying to crop windows to fit multiple windows. This will help the film stick to the window and make installation easier as you can remove the bubbles. You may also need a decent carton opener. The one they provide is pretty basic but still functional. They also give you a soft squeegee that really helps remove air bubbles. If you are installing this on a large window you will likely need a second person to help hold things in place while you cut the film from the roll (if you bought an extra roll or a larger roll to fit several make windows). Expect bubbles! Use lots of soapy water on a clean window first and you should be able to get most of the air bubbles out, but don't be surprised if you later find out you didn't get them all out. If you try to remove the foil later after it has dried to remove air bubbles you may tear the foil - so be careful. , but you might find that you didn't get the edges perfect and some of the light still gets through. Buy a new roll of duct tape (not the one that has been sitting in your garage for a year or more), the new duct tape is very soft and stretchy. Cut pieces of tape to fit each side of the window, or cut a few smaller pieces for each side, don't try to go all the way around with a piece of tape. Basically you are just trying to fill the light gap between the foil and the window sill with masking tape or tape half to the window sill and half to the foil. BE CAREFUL! If you tear off the tape, the tape will come off and you will need to wet it again with soapy water and reattach it. Worth the time and effort if you work the night shift or want your room to be a cave of darkness.
