Best of the best

I live about 60 miles from broadcast stations in a small town. I searched the internet for the best antenna. I found the top reviews, checked the pros and cons, and found the ClearStream 4 mount antenna to be my choice. I also bought a Winegard LNA-200 Boost XL digital HDTV preamp to boost the signal. I hooked it up 30 feet up in my garage and hooked up an external shielded coax cable to it. I used a short coax cable I had at home to connect to the Winegard preamp. I switched from a preamp to an Extreme 1GHz splitter for two TVs, one for my gazebo and one for my shop. Make sure your TVs are 2010+ and have a digital tuner. 2009 and below are analog TVs that you need a converter to convert to digital. I use the tuner on both TVs and only get 3 channels during the day and 5 at night. So I bought a VHF upgrade kit that attaches to the top of the ClearStream 4. The kit was easy and I attached it and made a tuner on both TVs and it was smaller than before. Then I changed the cables from the ClearStream, kit and preamp and it was better than bad. I did this for two days and couldn't figure it out, and then I noticed that the coax cable that came with the VHF upgrade kit had a longer wire sticking out of the cable while what I had , was not the case. I bought this short cable from Walmart and found that this cable is for indoor use and is not shielded. You will need 2 short coaxial cables to connect both antennas and the Winegard preamplifier. Bingo! I looked around my store for another short shielded coax cable with a wire sticking out of it and found it. I hooked it up during the day and have 11 channels (ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX), it's amazing. Can't wait to see how many channels I get tonight. Lesson learned The right cable does different things. Sometimes it's not the device you buy it's the people who plug it in lol. I'm laughing now, but it wasn't then. I am very happy with the ClearStream 4 and would recommend the Winegard LNA-200 Boost XL HDTV digital preamplifier for boosting the signal if you live far away like me.
