Review on IVY Classic 35056 Swift Cut 10-inch 200 Tooth Circular Saw Blade for Aluminum & Plastic Cutting - 5/8-inch Arbor, 1/Card by Christopher Lance

I wish I could try cutting aluminum with it sooner.

This screen came brand new in the box so there's no need for it. The first suspicion that something was wrong was that the teeth were set "backwards" for the rotation of the saw blade. It took a lot of pressure to cut a PVC pipe (2" pipe) on a 10" miter saw. It reminded me of a dull chainsaw blade because it produced a lot of powder. The cuts were fine (no surprise at 200 teeth) but the pressure it took was a bit disconcerting. I cut a 1/16" sheet of aluminum (1 cut) and the edge was dirty. This should be a clue. Next I tried to cut off a 1/8" aluminum angle. This blade is "rated" for 1/8" aluminum. Again, I was concerned about the cutting pressure, even with the knife teeth doing all the work. ME. I made 9 cuts in the 1/8" aluminum angle. Aluminum parts are VERY hot. The blade started to bend and wobble, but when I stopped the saw the nut wasn't loose. The blade then began "hopping" up and down the saw while making the final 2 cuts. After removing the blade, I found molten aluminum clogging large sections of the teeth. It's impossible to clean as it's really molten aluminum. Also the cut edge of the aluminum was a disaster and it took quite a bit of grinding (spoke wheel) to smooth it out. This would be a return, but it is outside the return period. It cuts plastic well, but beware of aluminum - it just doesn't work - and I wasn't pushing it hard, trying to let the blade's teeth do it. Work. I took an Oshlun blade with 100 teeth for non-ferrous metal. Twice the price of this blade but cuts like a dream (hot knife through oil) with no cleaning required.
