Review on πŸ“Ί Philips Rabbit Ears Indoor TV Antenna: Smart TV Compatible, HDTV 4K 1080P VHF UHF, Tabletop Design, Black, SDV8201B/27 by Hector Watkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great with an amp but I don't use it anymore.

Do I recommend it? Yes, but only with an amplifier and only if you can put it VERY close to a window (especially for VHF). I'm only 30 miles from cell towers. but I still needed the $15 amps. and of course the best reception was at the window. There were two more channels than my amplified flat antenna (because of the VHF dipoles). I was more or less happy with it, but it was still weak on the FM side. PBS fails. I ended up replacing it with a ClearStream dipole and reattaching my flat antenna. Three tips: First, allow at least an hour to scan and rescan channels and reposition the antenna. You should always do this, no matter what type of antenna you have. You'll be shocked at what a small difference in direction can make. Second, unless you live very close to a tower, I think you will always need an amp. I bought a GE here just for dipole (an amp on dipole and amp setup on flat antenna. Together I get 52 channels, starting at 30 with only flat antenna and starting at zero with no intention.) There is now a new digital amplifier from The Revain lay in the same Price class like the GE amp and looks intriguing. Has a meter and is USB powered (fewer cables, it uses your TV's empty USB socket for power). If you can't place the antenna outside or in the attic, a window is almost always the best place. You can buy a coaxial cable extension to run it to a window.
