I received this Notion set of five sensors free with my home insurance. That idea alone intrigued me - the insurance company could give you a lower annual rate if you use and activate a home surveillance kit. Since these sensors are designed for multi-purpose use, I was able to install three of them as leak detectors, one as a smoke detector and the last one as a door open and close sensor. The front door sensor has been working for a year and continues to work with the original battery despite frequent open and close signals. I have a busy family with kids, dogs being walked, people coming and going from work, etc. He never misses open or closed events. My three water sensors have also been working for a year. Ben doesn't need any of them, but as the saying goes, it's better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them. In doing so, I tested one of the sensors, the one under my garage water heater at around the 6 month mark, by pouring some water on the floor next to it. About 30 seconds after the water went under the sensor, I received an alert on my phone. That's enough for me. The smoke alarm was ceiling mounted and I didn't take the time to test it but I'm sure it will work. My main concern and the reason I am giving the system one star is that the bridge, the element that is stuck in the wall, sometimes loses contact with one or more of the sensors. It always reconnects later, but that intermittent reliability is a downside. I would understand if it was a signal problem between one of the sensors and the bridge, but the signal meter shows a stable signal between all sensors and the bridge. My other issue, which was minor, is that the light on the bridge is very bright and always on, sometimes flashing rapidly. It's bright enough that even though I've placed it in the living room, the light fills the room at night, and for my bedroom, it always glows a faint green. I suppose if it bothered me more I would have taped it off with some tape but like this. Overall it's a nice piece of technology and I love that you only need to buy one type of sensor to cover the different elements in your home. at home instead of buying different types of sensors for the same purpose. However, if I've been in the market for this type of product and didn't get it for free, I might consider other options that are less expensive per sensor.
