The old carpeting in the downstairs bedroom needed replacing and this made it very quick and easy to cut into small enough pieces for easy removal and transporting upstairs and into the bin. I have a small rechargeable one, but it doesn't work for anything other than cardboard. You definitely have to push it through the carpet with some force. This beast ate this carpet like it wasn't even there. It's intense, but it's what I wanted. It has more than enough power to get the job done and not even break a sweat. I probably won't use it that much, except for a few small jobs in my workshop every now and then, but it is a very good cutter. I will find another use for it
