Beautiful Paintable Colors

I bought a Derwent Inktense Travel Pan Set to use with the Bee Paper Inktober watercolor book. When my travel set arrived all the outer packaging was in pristine condition but when the travel set packaging was opened the plastic pallet was stained with dried ink. Upon opening the palette, I found that some ink blocks had cracked and shifted in transit, contaminating nearby colors and smearing the palette during mixing. I had originally considered returning the product but found that a replacement would not come to me until I intended to use it. The ink pigments themselves are just wonderful. I used to use Inktense pencils but haven't tried full size blocks yet. The pigment in the cuvettes is exactly the same as in the full-size blocks, and if you don't plan to use the ink tank on the go, consider purchasing a full-size blockset instead. However, if you already have an empty pallet of shell halves, you can craft your own travel shells by disassembling and placing full-size blocks inside. They have practically the same item as one of those travel pans. I really wanted a travel set and didn't have a spare palette, but now that I've bought this travel palette I'm planning to just buy a regular blockset and replace the shells in that set with bits of those pigments that were once certain blocks were used up. The travel set comes with an extra water brush, but don't be fooled. The included water brush is nothing more than traditional Derwent branded water pens. It's a lot more like the little water brushes you can order 3 for $1 on the Wish app. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it's the perfect water brush, but it doesn't add enough value to justify the price jump between a standard ink block set and a travel pot. I've had no issues with the water brush leaking as long as I remember using it by breaking and pocketing it between uses, but I find it unusual that the brush is open ended and there's no cap for it. general. All in all still a fantastic set, but it might not be to everyone's taste. I bought it on sale for $23 and while I liked it, I plan to just buy a full set of 24 Inktense blocks for about the same price in the future. However, I'm glad I tried them and my Inktober images looked amazing thanks to Inktense. :)

Pros
  • VERSATILITY AND BRIGHTNESS - The 8mm square block combines versatility with vibrant colour. Use the rim for small parts or the side for quick coverage of large areas. Contains a full palette of 24 colors.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
