Review on πŸ“» AnyTone AT-778UV Transceiver Mobile Radio: Dual Band 25W VHF/UHF VOX Vehicle Car Radio with Cable - Enhanced Communication and Versatility by Ricardo Tlaxcalteca

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Those on a budget can't go wrong with this radio.

Good radio, easy to program in software if you know what you are doing. Impressed with the display and audio output from the external speaker. The compact radio just blows my mind that all board level components are squeezed into a small package and really work just as well as it does. The quality of the microphone is acceptable within its limits and only time will tell how long all the microswitches it contains will continue to function properly. But you can buy a $30 backup mic from Revain to keep just in case. Powers when you're talking really long, but I didn't find it really unacceptably hot, just remember to keep it in a well-ventilated area, like any electronic device that gets very hot. Thermal heating kills components quickly. I've found that on 70m it's necessary to use it in broadband mode, otherwise your modulation will suffer if you run it in a narrow range. Not all radios have this problem, but this one is serious. several radios, including walkie-talkies, and none of them exhibited this behavior to the same extent as any AT 778UV. Until they come out with better GMRS radios that have more functionality and consumer desires, many people for this group will probably venture into this radio. Good radio and I will definitely keep it in my collection.
